WR:What’s your favorite era in skateboarding that you’ve been a part of?
QC: Every era had its time. Early 90′s. Videos: Savannah Slamma, Rubbish Heap, and Video Days. We had ramp in our backyard, and everyone would come and skate. Steven Cales, Brian Blake, Mike Kepper the list goes on. 94′ Brooklyn Banks era, I’ll never forget. There’s a skate park. 96′ I flew out to S.F to design my first pro model. My brother Mike Cardona did my first graphic. They only printed A limited of those boards. Mark Gonzales did the series. I was in New Jersey, senior year of high school. Did the whole cross country tours twice, cross country canada. Travelled to Europe and Australia. I don’t shut the door on the past, but the future is where I am headed. My pops always told me that change is constant, to follow my passions, but translate it into a decent living to support your family. Longevity is the key and we are all survivors with an experience to share. I had the opportunity to go to Cuba to give back to the kids in 2009. The era is our time to shine.
WR: What Skateboarders have your favorite style ?
QC: Steven Cales, Stevie Williams, Keenan Milton, Javier Nunez, Tom Penny, Karl Watson, Adelmo Jr., Bastian Salabanzi, Nyjah Huston. There are so many more.
WR: What’s the difference between the east coast and the west coast?
QC: The flavor is different. It’s more fast pace on the east coast. Everyone seems always be on the go in New York.
I’m in Jersey, and it’s right 10 minutes outside of the city, and it’s the opposite of the madness.
WR: Whats the best part about fatherhood?
QC: Giving my son all of my love and support. His personality, his curious eyes, communicating, and learning to talk is a joy to experience.
WR: When are you putting out a new cd and what kind of music projects are you working on?
QC: I’m in a band called The Jack Moves. We’ve been getting out there and perform once week somewhere new. I’ve been putting out alot photos, travel updates, events and more on QuimTime.
WR: Who’s hot in music right now that’s new and who’s always going to be hot?
QC: The Jack Moves is the hottest band that’s going to be out for a while.
WR: What country do you want to visit next?
QC: Africa. In the spring we have a trip planned hopefully to Portugal.
WR: Who are your top favorite pro’s as people?
QC: Jahmal Williams, Stevie Williams, Josh Kalis, Fred Gall keep skating on the upside of things. Pro’s who are motivated to promote and put out themselves out there.
WR: What’s the weirdest situation you’ve ever gotten yourself into?
QC: Approached by the stick up kids in Biaritz, France, it was a close call. Paulo Diaz and I were out there skating for Adidas. It was our last night in town. We went into to sit down at a cafe close to our hotel on the beach to have pizza and a few beers. There were two girls sitting next to us. We started to converse in french and English. They invited us back to their car to listen to some french hip hop. Parked on a hill, along the Oceanside, on a dead end street. Out of nowhere comes a light and there were these two guys on a Vespa, show up. They approach the car with the window rolled all down, and ask for the money. They sensed we were from around there. I remember playing a flute to distract them to make it seem like it was all good. I was riding shotgun and one girl was driving. She was too scared to start the car, so I pulled the emergency brake and the car started to roll down the hill. By that time, one guy kicks through the passenger side window and shattered the window. We were out, and they chased us for 5 minutes through the city. All to listen to some french hip hop.
